What is Aojiru AKA Barley Grass Tea Powder?

You may ask why do we put Barley Grass Powder in our Matcha Tea Powder Blend? Well the answer goes way back from when our founder(Me) traveled to Japan and tried this powdered beverage drink for the first time. The tasting profile is similar to Matcha and also shares the same bright green color - only it does not contain caffeine. It's sourced from the young leaves of Barley Grass and is harvested similarly to matcha tea powder.  According to the National Institute of Health, Barley Grass Tea is known to have nutritional benefits and eliminates toxins from cells.

Here's a list of the benefits Barley Grass Tea Powder has:

gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)
flavonoids
chlorophyll
vitamins (A, B1, C, and E)
dietary fiber
alkaloids
polyphenols.
Promotes sleep
Has antidiabetic effects & regulates blood pressure
enhances immunity
protects liver
has anti-acne/detoxifying and antidepressant effects
improves gastrointestinal function
and so on....

There has been a trend lately all thanks to these "Matcha Influencers" who mainly promote ceremonial grade matcha brands. You may wonder how does the influencer get that bright green color? Well it's because they are using a large amount of the powder, often times recommending to use 2-3 grams of the powder which equals to more than a teaspoon per serving. In my opinion, that is way too expensive to be using that much creremonial grade powder, especially since they sell them in these tiny tin cans and will only make 15-20 drinks if you are using their suggested serving size which is 1/2 a teaspoon per serving. From a caffeinated standpoint, you can be over doing it on the matcha portions if you are consuming more than a teaspoon of it!

That's why I created this blend of Matcha AND Barely Grass Tea Powder. The ratio to be exact is: for every serving, you get equal parts one teaspoon of the Matcha and one teaspoon of the Barely Grass Tea Powder- both sourced from Japan!

Our bag of the Green Matcha Blend Tea Powder comes with 30 servings, each serving containing 2 teaspoons which is more than you get from that tiny ceremonial grade matcha tin can.

In conclusion, if you are struggling to find a good quality of matcha powder without having to spend lots of money on the ceremonial grade version, you should try our blend of Pink Taza's Green Matcha Powder. Let me know what you think, do you like the taste of Barley Grass(Aojiru) Tea Powder?
